Introduction
Our Science and Health team has transformed a previously underused warehouse into a state-of-the-art purpose-built medical diagnostic centre for repeat client Spire healthcare.
The Spire Bushey Diagnostic Centre, Spire’s largest facility in the south-east, plays an important role in the private healthcare provider’s redevelopment strategy at Bushey. The centre will allow easier access and convenient travel for patients outside the busy town centre and will alleviate the impact on resources at the main hospital.
Spire Healthcare is a leading provider of private healthcare, with 36 private hospitals throughout the UK. The company is built on a proud heritage of over 25 years’ experience of running successful private hospitals.
The project
ISG’s role involved converting existing consulting rooms into bedrooms for in-patients, to allow important refurbishment works take place at the main hospital.
Built with the latest imaging technologies, including a new high-specification MRI scanner and X-Ray machine, the facilities are home to some of the most technologically advanced services that have helped revolutionise the diagnosis of critical illnesses and injuries.
The new centre was built with a new mezzanine deck steel structure that ran through the existing warehouse to extend the height of the facility by an additional level. The front façade was also adapted to incorporate a two-storey passenger lift.
The architectural finishes involved in a private healthcare facility of this type were of the highest standard, designed with the wellbeing of patients and staff in mind.
This project is our second with the client after the delivery of Spire’s St Anthony’s Hospital in Cheam, UK.
