ISG takes top honours at the 2022 Building Awards

We are delighted to have been named Major Contractor of the Year (turnover over £500m) by Building magazine, thanks to the continued hard work and dedication of #TeamISG.
With the results announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, UK, last night, the win is our second in this category against a strong peer group.
2021/22 has seen a changing of the guard for ISG as Matt Blowers succeeded Paul Cossell as our CEO. Matt commented: “It’s great to see the hard work that our people put in every day has been recognised again. Our vision puts purpose at the heart of our business and balances that with profitability, so we deliver long-term value for everyone. We call this strategy ‘Right thing first’ and it encompasses everything we do.”

The judges recognised this ethos, and our commitment to delivering for our customers, employees, the planet and for society. From the opening of the world’s first sustainable retrofitted office environment, the Entopia Building at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, to the ultra-low carbon Sky Innovation Centre – we do things the right way, for the right reasons.

Project power
This year also saw standout ISG projects shortlisted in a number of categories. The Edrich and Compton stands at Lord’s Cricket Ground, South Point Primary School for Vale of Glamorgan Council, and our Social, Emotional and Mental Health Schools Programme for Manchester City Council, were shortlisted for Building Magazine Project of the Year, Net Zero and Social Value respectively.
We were delighted to see that our SEMH Manchester school programme took home the win in the Delivering Social Value Award. As a result of collaboration by project partners to deliver exemplary social value initiatives, this programme has made a real difference to people’s lives. Significant investment in the local economy, job creation, and support for some of society’s most disadvantaged and underrepresented has ensured long-lasting outcomes for the community.
