ISG hands over North Devon Enterprise Centre project

ISG is delighted to have handed over the North Devon Enterprise centre, which has been renamed ‘Node’, to Devon County Council and Town Sq, who will now take on management of the building.

As the flagship build on a brand-new business park, the space will provide essential support and skills development to encourage the start-up and growth of innovative businesses. The centre offers flexible office accommodation, meeting space, high-speed broadband connectivity, and an environment that will encourage networking opportunities.

The building has been designed to be environmentally sustainable and includes a series of measures to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status. An overall reduction of 25% has been achieved on carbon emissions through energy efficient lighting, use of natural daylight and enhanced thermal insulation.

Councillor Rufus Gilbert, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, said: “The completion of Node is an exciting development for Devon’s economy. We’ve all seen the devastating impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on local business. Node will be there to provide start-ups and SMEs with support and opportunities as we look toward recovery and creating a stronger, more inclusive and sustainable economy. With TownSq in place to develop an innovative business community we’re confident that Node can play an important role in restarting our local economy to ensure we build back better.”

This latest development builds on the ties forged through our successful delivery of the Engineering and Lifestyle and Tourism Training Centres for Petroc College.

The centre has been hailed as the key to unlocking potential for local businesses and will support the next generation of entrepreneurs through its close links with the college.

The scheme has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership and Devon County Council. It was procured through the influential Southern Construction Framework (SCF).

Our partnership with the SCF has continued to grow, being reappointed to its latest iteration in 2019. The collaborative approach of frameworks, like SCF, allows for early contractor engagement, honest and transparent procurement, and a commitment to employment and skills opportunities.
