ISG completes state-of-the-art beverage can manufacturing facility
ISG has completed its latest project for Trebor Developments LLP, delivering Crown Packaging Manufacturing UK Limited’s beverage can manufacturing facility, production and distribution accommodation, and headquarters, in Peterborough, UK.
The project, constructed on a 30-acre brownfield site, is home to the biggest can manufacturing facility in Europe, generating hundreds of jobs and substantial capital investment in the surrounding area. The finished unit provides 623,000 sq ft of production and distribution accommodation that includes a fully automated clad rack system, as well as new headquarter offices.
This facility is Crown Packaging Manufacturing UK Limited’s first to include a dedicated fully automated clad rack storage building, and is one of the largest engineering projects ISG has completed to date. The clad rack frame system forms part of the main skeleton frame of the storage building, an important aspect of the successful delivery of the scheme.
"We are delighted to announce the completion of the new manufacturing facility for Trebor Developments LLP. The opening of the state-of-the-art facility represents a significant capital investment in the Peterborough area, contributing to job creation for the local community."
Kevin Tait, Project Director, ISG
Forging strong relationships
Collaboration and forging strong relationships with all parties involved was key to the success of the project. We were appointed to lead an international team of client-direct subcontractors, including a clad rack installer from Spain. Throughout all stages of the tender process, the team held and managed co-ordination workshops in both the UK and Spain with the subcontractors, the client and the design team, to ensure every element was in alignment, providing the best solution for programme and cost.
Engaging local communities
Steps were taken to engage local communities during the project, with pupils of Old Fletton Primary School in Peterborough taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the project. This visit enabled the pupils to learn more about various construction methods and operations, including discussions around the project and encouraging them to think about the construction industry as a viable career path for the future.
Following the project, members of #TeamISG and several of our subcontractors provided and installed new summer houses and a makeover of the external area, providing a new ‘buddy base’, reading base, boardgame base and mindfulness base, accessible to all pupils during break times.
Kevin Tait, project director, expresses: “We are delighted to announce the completion of the new manufacturing facility for Trebor Developments LLP.
