In celebration of the great work undertaken by employers and apprentices across the country, ISG will be celebrating past and current apprentices, and the supervisors who help them for National Apprenticeship Week (NAW). Now in its 15th year, the week-long celebration of apprenticeships brings together businesses and apprentices from across the UK to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses, and the wider economy.
Each year we provide 20,000 apprentice days. These days not only represent a key element of social value we generate each year, but demonstrate the value we place on our people, the future of our business and empowering early careers talent to flourish.

Alex's journey into construction - an apprenticeship story
Alex wasn’t sure what he wanted to do when he finished school. That all changed when he and his friends joined their local grammar school, giving Alex the opportunity to enrol on the Level 3 Applied Diploma in Professional Construction Practice (PCP). Construction wasn’t a career Alex had considered before, but it was one he took advantage of after seeing the curriculum.
Developed by ISG and awarding organisation, WJEC, the PCP is a first-of-its-kind construction qualification equivalent in value to an A-level. The course offers young people the chance to become familiar with construction, introducing the skills, technologies and ethos needed for a career in the industry.
Alex charts his success on the course to the variety it brings and the chance to meet construction professionals – ISG attended classes every month, giving him the opportunity to tap into the expertise of its people.
"The course gave me great insight into construction and bridged the gap between class and practice, which helped start my career,” he says. “The well-structured content and collaboration with ISG made progressing from class to site easier than I expected."
The course is clearly reaping rewards – Alex hasn’t looked back since his foray in construction, and now works on site as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor.

Lizzie’s story - find out about her degree apprenticeship at ISG
Lizzie Warburton joined ISG in September 2021 and is one of our degree apprentices working as an Apprentice Project Manager on the exciting refurbishment project at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.
In her story Lizzie tells us about the project, including details of her role and why she enjoys it. Lizzie also explains the benefits of joining ISG as an apprentice and why it’s the best experience she’s ever had.

The four-year degree apprenticeship programme, in partnership with University College of Estate Management (UCEM) and London South Bank University, (LSBU) gives our apprentices a strong foundation on which to build a career within ISG.
