Five ISG finalists in the running for Construction Manager of the Year

 

The following are all dusting off their dicky-bows and heading down to the glittering awards evening in September:

•  Warren Hough, Senior Project Manager for UK Construction Northwest
• Alex Mastroddi, Project Manager for UK Construction Northwest
• Steve Laughton, Project Manager for UK Construction Northeast
• Adam Walker, Senior Site Manager for UK Construction Northeast
• Brian Amos, Construction Manager for UK Construction West

All five were nominated in a specific category based on a project that they have delivered for ISG in the last twelve months.

Warren was recognised for his dedication to inclusive, cross partnership working on the EBN schools programme of work. He worked through budget constraints, sharing lessons learned through each project and lead with the client through multi projects, including Beaver Road Primary School, all the while acting as a support, mentor and coach to the project team.

Alex’s work on Moss Side Leisure Centre in Manchester earned him the seal of approval thanks to his passion for delivering a client and community focused facility, the great partnership working that he displayed and the way that he managed challenges on this high-profile project.

Steve’s dedication to providing the best space possible and delivering the end user vision for staff and pupils at Wynyard CofE Primary School in Stockton-on-Tees earned him the honour with his community relations, attention to detail and work to leave a legacy standing out above the rest. He even arranged site events to raise money to build a memorial garden for a pupil who passed away, and then assisted in the design of the garden.

Adam’s understanding of the client’s needs and concerns on our project at Hunslet Moor Primary School, and adaptions made as a result, put him on the right course to be a strong contender, not least because of the short timescales on most parts of the projects.

And Brian’s determination and vision for the Public Realm project in Central Square, Cardiff saw him make his way to the final. The ambitious project saw Brian lead a team to completely re-style the gateway into the Welsh capital, working in a busy live environment throughout and ensuring only the best and most local in labour, waste management and community relations would do.

The Construction Manager of the Year Awards have been run as part of the Chartered Institute of Building’s CIOB Awards every year, recognising the best in the construction industry.
ISG Construction Manager James Fryer took home a Gold award for his work on Temple Learning Academy last year, and the team heading down to London in September are hoping for similar success after being put through their paces during a tough six month process involving site visits and presentations to an expert judging panel.

The awards are split in to nine categories, with a gold and silver winner for each one. An overall winner is also crowned on the night.  

The five #TeamISG finalists will have their fingers crossed at the national awards on 18 September.
