Introduction
Operating for over 30 years, The American Club Hong Kong is a premier country club located in Tai Tam, Hong Kong and ISG was appointed to deliver alteration and addition (A&A) works to renew the club and enhance its facilities over a project duration of nine months.
The project
For this project, ISG delivered a comprehensive scope of works across 7,000 sq ft of facilities, such as the addition of superstructures for an open space bar and installation of a new filtration system in an infinity plunge pool.
The scheme also included upgrades to its two squash courts - while one court was given a complete renewal, the other was converted into two multifunctional high-tech golf simulators and a self-serve bar. Beyond that, the fan coil system in the court was replaced with air handling units.
Revitalising the club with new operating systems, we also delivered a major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) phase. This involved the replacement of a water-cooled chiller plant system to three new 250t air-cooled chillers serving the whole club, and substitution of the electric-heated domestic water system with one that is gas-heated.
As the operational country club is located near a residential neighbourhood, our team adopted noise control practices to minimise disruption to the club and the surrounding areas.
In addition, we also proposed an environmentally-friendly solution for the disposal of grease water. In doing so, ISG was able to avoid sea pollution, proving our compliance to meet BEAM Plus requirements.
The programme was successfully delivered with positive feedback received from the customer, who is likely to appoint ISG for future projects.
