Sowing seeds of joy as ISG in Singapore welcomes the new year
To celebrate International Migrants Day on 18 December and deepen our social impact in the community, ISG in Singapore came together to prepare gifts for migrant workers, and partner with the Down Syndrome Association(Singapore) to raise funds through sending of Christmas eCard greetings.
As a stalwart of the construction services industry in Singapore, ISG recognises that migrant workers play an integral role in bringing projects to fruition in challenging and fast-shifting work environments, while supporting tight project delivery schedules.
For the second year running, ISG Singapore colleagues collected unused shoeboxes and raised a total of S$1,295 to obtain practical essential items including new toothbrush sets, soap bars, shampoo, deodorant, towels, socks, cotton buds and shavers. These items were specially selected as they would come in handy for the workers’ day-to-day grooming routine. 90 unused shoeboxes were also given a new lease of life as beautifully wrapped gifts, a good step towards sustainability.
A set of essential items was then packed into each shoebox, carefully wrapped and delivered to current ISG project sites in the heart of Singapore’s central business district. The gifts were personally wrapped by ISG Singapore office employees and arranged into a Christmas tree at the office entrance, where they awaited delivery to project sites in time for Christmas.
Construction operatives employed by ISG and its subcontractors received their hand-wrapped gifts with smiles and gestures of thanks. In addition, a special giveaway of unused household items donated by ISG Singapore employees and red packets were prepared for ISG construction operatives.
Besides the festive gift-giving, ISG partnered with the Down Syndrome Association (Singapore) to send Christmas eCards, which showcased the beautiful artwork of beneficiaries Lin Chun Ru, Benjamin Lee and Brandon Wong featured below. For every eCard sent to clients, consultants, partners and subcontractors, ISG donated $1 to the charity, raising a total of $400.
ISG in Singapore is committed to serving the wider community and supporting the Down Syndrome Association (Singapore) as well as migrant workers are meaningful ways that it gives back, bringing a very challenging 2020 to a close, and welcoming 2021 with open hearts.
