Introduction
ISG delivered the first global headquarters for a major container shipping company - Ocean Network Express, emerged from a recent joint venture of Japan’s top three shipping liners. Situated within one of the latest Grade A office development in Singapore ‐ Marina One, the two‐storey fit out scheme saw the creation of an effective, agile and stunning workplace environment for the newly integrated workforce.
The project
As the management contractor, ISG was responsible for all of the trade packages, procurement and supply chain management, design coordination and the construction delivery of the project. The unique procurement model provided an effective and flexible solution for an evolving design to be delivered on a fast‐tracked construction programme on time and on budget.
Delivered in sixteen weeks following an eight‐week preconstruction period, our team created a series of high‐specification meeting and video conference suites, concierge area, collaboration spaces, open office environments, two crisis recovery centres and a 4,000 sq ft cafeteria at the heart of the space.
Some of the design highlights our team conceived include high‐specification meeting suites that mimic the look and feel of shipping containers ‐ created by the combination of timber substrates, double‐glazed glass partitions and aluminium cladding finished with the brand's corporate magenta. Other creative maritime cues include a world map made of reclaimed wood and connecting nautical rope ‐ embedded as a backdrop wall in the cafeteria to showcase their shipping route.
The project closed at 68,000 safe man hours and was handed over as per contracted programme and budget.
In all, the new global headquarters reflects a swoon‐worthy office design, with open and agile workspace connected by inter‐floor feature staircase, communal areas and highly advanced technology integration.
