Introduction

The signature two-Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant at InterContinental Hong Kong, Yan Toh Heen, offers world-class Cantonese cuisine. It has been operating since 1984 and was recently awarded Five Stars by Forbes Travel Guide. In 2018, Yan Toh Heen relocated to a new venue within the hotel with stunning views of Victoria Harbour.

The project

ISG was appointed to deliver alterations and additions (A&A), mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) and fit out works across a 10,290 sq ft area in the restaurant, including the main kitchen and private dining rooms.

Detailed project scope includes A&A works involving submission to Buildings Department, preparation and follow-up actions before and after statutory inspections; MEP works including diversion and renewal of the existing provisions; furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) and top-notch fit out of the restaurant.

Carrying out the construction and fit out programme in the operational five-star hotel was a critical challenge to the team, yet the team adopted preventive measures to mitigate disruption to hotel guests, making the customer highly satisfied.

Embellished with elegant jade décor, valuable collectables and art pieces, the restaurant was designed to retain its rich heritage. Apart from delivering a premium fit out, ISG relocated antiques, art pieces and furniture seamlessly from the former restaurant to the new site.

ISG’s exceptional health and safety standards led us to win a gold award for “The Best Refurbishment and Maintenance Contractor in Occupational Safety and Health 2018”, jointly presented by the Occupational Safety and Health Council, Labour Department and several other associations in the construction industry.

The project was completed in July 2018 over a project period of four months, with high satisfaction by the customer.
