Two from ISG into next round of Construction Manager of the Year Awards 2020

Two #TeamISG project leads have made it through to the next round of judging for this year’s Construction Manager of the Year Awards.

Anthony Mitchell, senior project manager in the North East, and Richard White, project director in London, have both progressed through the virtual judging stage to be named as finalists for this year's event.

The CIOB’s UK awards celebrate those who go above and beyond to deliver buildings that make a positive impact on the lives of the people who use them.

Anthony Mitchell, senior project manager in the North East, and Richard White, project director in London, have both progressed to the next round, which consists of a virtual judging stage.

Anthony was crucial in the delivery of our Ecclesall Road student accommodation scheme in Sheffield, UK, last year – a £33million 586-bed student accommodation project for client, Liv Sheffield Partners Ltd in partnership with development managers Valeo Management Europe.

The scheme is located in close proximity to the two Sheffield universities, and provides students with fantastic communal facilities, including a ninth-floor central club lounge complete with a vast balcony overlooking the city, as well as lounge and study spaces, a café, private dining areas, TV room and gym.

Elizabeth Slessor, senior project manager at Valeo Management, and Peter Haspel, CEO, commented: “We would welcome the opportunity to work with Anthony and the ISG team again in the future because of the extra added value they bring. Anthony has shown his commitment to solving problems with us and his dedication to achieving completion in time for the opening went above and beyond our expectations.”

Richard has been an integral part of our work to deliver Richmond upon Thames College’s (RuTC) new £35m state-of-the-art facility in London, UK. The new building, part of a wider £80m redevelopment of the campus, provides an exciting and innovative learning environment, created for students and the local community to be able to take advantage of the top of the range facilities.

Procured via the Pagabo framework, the project was successfully delivered to include dance and drama studios, theatre, art gallery, silver service chef’s academy complete with sprawling views of the local area and multiple teaching spaces arranged around social spaces within the inspiring central atrium. Preparations are now underway to open the new facility to the local community.

Nolan Smith, director at Fusion, the client’s project manager, commented: “I have operated in construction for over 20 years and completed large-scale projects, but I have to say that Richard has been the best project manager that I have worked with.”

The awards will be announced in November and from all of us at #TeamISG, we wish both Anthony and Richard the very best of luck!
