Glittering gold success at CMYA
ISG is celebrating a gold winner and four finalists at the 2019 Construction Manager of the Year Awards.
Project Manager Steve Laughton has scooped a gold award for his work on Wynyard CoE Primary School in Stockton-on-Tees, being recognised for his dedication to providing the best space possible for staff and pupils.
The four other finalists are spread across UK Construction in the Northwest, the Northeast and the West and were nominated based on a project that they have delivered in the last twelve months:
• Warren Hough, Senior Project Manager
• Alex Mastroddi, Project Manager
• Adam Walker, Senior Site Manager
• Brian Amos, Construction Manager
Known for his dedication to client and colleagues, Steve stood out in the Primary Education category for his “proud reputation for refusing to accept anything less than the best with another snag-free project”, delivering Wynyard Primary School two weeks ahead of schedule, on budget, with zero defects.
His community relations, attention to detail and work to leave a lasting legacy were also noticed after he arranged site events to raise money to build a memorial garden for a pupil who passed away, and then assisted in the design of the garden.
Finalists Warren, Alex, Adam and Brian were all given the prestigious finalist status following nominations for delivering client and community focused facilities, great partnership working and determination and vision, amongst other things. They all enjoyed a special evening at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Wednesday 18 September.
The Construction Manager of the Year Awards have been run as part of the Chartered Institute of Building’s CIOB Awards every year, recognising the best in the construction industry.
Only 11 gold awards are handed out each year, and this is the second year running that a member of Team ISG has come out on top – project manager James Fryer was one of the eleven in 2018.
Tim Harvey, ISG’s Regional Director in the Northeast, said: “Steve continuously goes above and beyond on every project that he works on, and I’m absolutely delighted that he’s brought home this gold award. Not only that, this is ISG’s second consecutive win in the Northeast and proves that, time and again, we’re doing our best for clients, end users and colleagues.
“These five have demonstrated what it means to work for ISG and our dedication to delivering places that help people and businesses thrive. Well done all.”
