Introduction
ISG’s German team has successfully completed the second phase fit out of Microsoft´s new office in Berlin “Unter den Linden” close to the heart of Berlin, the Brandenburger Tor.
The project
The project encompassed a 700 sq m open-plan office including lounge areas, communication spaces and conference rooms with the latest video conference technology. One of Berlin’s leading Graffiti Artists decorated the glass partition walls with his art.
Challenges
The project team’s main challenge was the tight time schedule in a fully occupied building among other ongoing construction in the neighbourhood.
To meet the high technical requirements of Microsoft for media communication and technology, the newest components had to be integrated in the interior design. This demanded accurate planning and moderation of all parties involved.
With its listed facade the building is part of a listed monument area. “Unter den Linden” is one of the most popular attractions for tourists and is conveniently located between several underground stations. Due to this location on one of Berlin’s busiest thoroughfares and stroll areas, careful attention had to be paid to site logistics and management.
