Overview
We received a tender invitation by Dell EMC via our online presence / website for an office fit out project in Zurich. As it turned out, ISG was the only contractor willing to commit to the tight timeframe of this projectThe Project
In short, ISG realised a commercial fit out in Zurich on an area of 2,450 sqm. The project started on site at the end of November 2017 and was completed and handed over to the client at the beginning of March 2018.
Added Value
The team on site managed to retain much of the existing raised floor and opted to erect the partitioning directly on top. Cooling is supplied over chilled beam ceilings. Acoustic panels were introduced in to the scheme, entirely made from recycled PET bottles.
Challenges
Planning documents were incomplete and therefore required a technical manager on the project to provide support. Another external party, an external contractor from the UK, was included to build the server room. Further issues around compatibility and specifications required the team on site to develop solutions in order to be in line with the agreed milestones of the project.
Moreover, the planning application for the roof chiller, providing cooling to the server rooms, was delayed and so these works had to be undertaken after occupation. Hence the team had to arrange a temporary system bypass to ensure cooling of the server rooms.
Despite these challenges, ISG managed to achieve the FDOB date (first day of business) in mid-March 2018.
